Windscreen Replacement

A damaged windscreen, especially one that obstructs the driver's view, needs replacement immediately to prevent accidents.

Driving with shattered or cracked vehicle glass means it's time for you to say "replace my windscreen!" because it's not only illegal in Australia but can cause grave injuries if the wind speed and pressure blasts it all into your car mid-drive.

What is a Windscreen?

Your car's windscreen is a screen that protects all the passengers and the interiors of your vehicle from dust, stones, bugs, rain, wind, and other elements you encounter on the road.

Also known as the windshield, this shield is made from special laminated safety glass and is not for decorative purposes. It is one of the essential safety features of any vehicle.

Though it is possible to repair windshields that have scratches, cracks and chips, it is better to replace the entire glass panel if any damage prevents the driver from seeing the road clearly.

Three signs that you need windscreen glass replacement services:

Most vehicles can last decades without needing to change windshield. However, if you encounter any of these signs we will talk about below, you need to change your windscreen.

1. Your windshield sports chips, cracks, or scratches that are larger than 25 mm (one inch) in diameter.

2. If the driver can no longer see out of the windscreen.

3. There are three or more cracks on your windshield.

Car Windscreen Replacement procedures:

  • Remove the Trim
The trim keeps the windshield in place and can be removed using a razor.

  • Remove the windshield slowly
Use large suction cups to remove the windshield to prevent it from breaking.

  • Clean and prep the Pinch Weld
Clean and prep the pinch weld, the small space that pinches the sides of your windshield, located between the shield itself and your car's body.

  • Add the adhesive and reinstall the new windshield
Apply urethane adhesive to the edges of your pinch weld and slowly place the new windshield. Allow the adhesive to set and then remove the suction cups. After curing is completed, you can install new trim.
